My name is Leonidas, I was born in Athens, Greece in 1984. I hated sport with a passion and would rather let the ball land in my face than kick it. Then I'd cry. I also played with my cousin's Barbies a lot. That pretty much sums up my childhood. The horrid 90s Barbies have nothing to do with my love of dolls though because I hate Barbies now. Well, unless they're vintage. You see huge part of the appeal of vintage and antique dolls is they've lived longer than you, possibly traveled more than you and definitely seen more than you. The doll in the picture is my Kenner Blythe, Spondee. When I was born she had already been sitting somewhere for years, broken and bald, gathering dust and dirt, and just had to wait 21 more years for me to bid on her on ebay and save her. I don't believe in fate but when I think of this I'm very touched. Over the last few years I have collected vintage dolls, some contemporary and have recently become very interested in antique. I'm located in London. I take photographs of the personal, intimate and sexual variety, as well as doll photographs of course, sometimes mixing the two with infamous results. I customize and restore dolls, mostly Blythe, specializing in mohair reroots. I also sew unique little fashions for various types and sizes. When it comes to fashion and aesthetics, I have two big loves that have nothing to do with each other whatsoever. 60s pop culture, mod and psychedelia & Rococo, baroque, victoriana and contemporary japanese lolita culture. Mod and Royal are mini brands that reflect these two sides of myself. The concept of this website occured to me during my second trip to Japan in August 2007 and since I started working on it every night, listening to the music from "Ecole" which is playing in the background now. The name came from a song by french dark electronic band Die form. (download here) It's rather bizarre and has an absolutely terrible video. In the lyrics a little girl invites her doll to kiss her. "... Kiss me, baby doll, lolita love me, lolita love me Kiss me baby doll, lolita baby, lolita baby ...
