BLACK RED SMOCKED DRESS Traditional english smocking is an embroidery technique that gathers and elasticises fabric while creating beautiful decoratif patterns. It dates as far back as the 14th century and was used a lot in children's clothing in the 60s and 70s which is where this line takes inspiration. My smocked dresses are made out of a single strip of fabric with thread and trim that coordinate beautifully. They're gathered and smocked entirely by hand, no pleater involved.
